Installation and Specifications for ST
and DT 020 Series ESD Constant Monitors
ST-020 Specifications (single threshold: this unit alarms with high resistance levels)
DT-020 Specifications (dual threshold: this unit alarms with high AND low high resistance levels)

1. Mount the AEI-ST020 or
DT-020 in a
convenient place on the workbench using the velcro supplied with the
unit or the optional mounting bracket. The units are
frequently mounted on the underside of the workbench to keep them
out of the way.
2. Plug the power adaptor
into the ST or DT 020 and into a grounded outlet. Both LEDs should
turn red and the buzzer should sound. The ground in the outlet
is an important part of the system and should also be connected to
the ESD common point ground. The outlet and the common point
ground can be located at any convenient place on the workbench.
3. Plug the bench cable into
the back of the unit and connect it to the bench mat. It
should
be connected to the opposite side of the mat from the mat ground
connection. The BENCH LED should turn green.
NOTE: The 020 and 030 series
monitors are designed to work in the static conductive range of
matting but work well with static dissipative tri layer
matting (like our and
UltraComfort or
UltraTough) or dual layer matting with a conductive bottom layer
and static dissipative top layer (like our
ElectraTherm ESD rubber matting). If using tri layer static
dissipative matting the unit (and ground connection from the
matting) must make contact with the conductive
inner layer of the esd mat. To insure this contact use either our
push
and cinch or mat snap kit. Many customers hardwire the bench
cable to the fastener (the unit is supplied standard with an
alligator attachment) or use the optional
snap attachment available at a cost of . . .
4. Plug a wrist strap into
the front of the unit and put it on. The OPERATOR LED should
turn green. If it doesn't, touch the wrist strap to the common
point ground. If the OPERATOR LED turns green then the wrist
strap was not making good contact with the Operators wrist.
5. If usisng with the
network monitoring system: Plug the grey flat cable
into the back of the ST-020 and into the AEI NMH. Verify that
the NMH status is the same as the LED on the front of the ST020.
Note: A calibration / test
unit is available for the ST/DT-020's. Simply plug the ground cable
into the common point ground and the operator cable into the
OPERATOR input. The LED should be red. It should be
Green when you press the "test" button.
