ESD epoxy floor paint: covering standard VCT (vinyl) tiles
Standard vinyl composition tiles (or VCT as it's known in the industry) has been a mainstay floor covering for well over 50 years. It's probably the most popular floor covering in the world. Why? It's robust, bonds very well to concrete, is inexpensive and can handle some rolling loads with ease. The Problem? It's electrically insulative. Tribo-electrification (contact and separation between a person's shoes or rolling carts in combination with the VCT) generates static potential in the thousands of volts.
VCT just can't provide the level of ESD control required in static control environments but it can be coated with the ElectraGuard System. Covering standard VCT with ElectraGuard is reliable, saves the costly removal of the vct and provides outstanding longevity and electrical conductivity.

ElectraGuard ESD flooring Epoxy top coated with ElectraGlaze ESD floor finish, approximately 10,000 square feet, installation site, South Windsor, Connecticut. Installation substrate: NON CONDUCTIVE STANDARD VCT. This robust static control esd epoxy coating is much more resilient than mere floor paints although application and preparation are similar. It's warranted for lifetime conductivity, is economical, long lasting and very resistant to chemicals. ElectraGuard / ElectraGlaze floors can be high speed polished for a mirror like shine or left "as applied" (as was this floor) providing slightly less shine with outstanding slip resistance properties. ElectraGuard meets the newest specifications for electrical conductivity including EOS ESD S 2020-2007 97.1 (the combination resistance of the technician in heel grounders and esd flooring material of <3.5E07).
